Position Title: Student Teaching Supervisor

Position Requirements and Preferences
Education: Master’s Degree in education with training and recent experience (within 5 years) in the content area and grade level of supervision.
Experience: Three years of teaching experience in the content area and grade level of supervision.
Abilities:
- Proficiency in Google Docs
- Ability to travel to school districts
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Independent decision making, ability to exercise good judgment, accuracy flexibility, and well-developed critical thinking skills
- Knowledge of online instructional learning modalities and best practices
- Excellent professional interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Commitment to maintaining consistently high professional standards
- Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with a growing, innovative team
- A commitment to working with a diverse population of students is essential demonstrated experience in this area is preferred
- Works harmoniously with others
- Performs in a manner that benefits student learning
Position Summary:
Student Teaching Supervisors oversee student teachers across the state a minimum of once every 10 school days per placement and provide feedback to the student teachers in accordance with Iowa Code Chapter 79.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in Supervisor Training
- Conduct face-to-face supervision of student teachers once every 10 school days per placement
- Conduct a face-to-face or zoom call for the first initial meeting
- Write up feedback after each observation and submit it to the student teacher, cooperating teacher, and student teaching placement coordinator
- Review weekly lesson plans, provide feedback, and grade
- Read and respond to weekly journals, provide feedback and grade
- Complete the final paperwork and submit to Student Teaching Coordinator.
- Satisfy 40-hour teaching or co-teaching requirement within five years.
