Andy McGuire

Adjunct Instructor of Theatre

The WPU Humanities Division is proud to have Andy McGuire as an Adjunct Instructor for Theatre courses and the Creative Arts major. Andy has an extensive theatre education background of over 10 years that includes various Youth Director and theatre instructor positions in cities across the Midwest including: Des Moines, IA; St Paul, MN; and Chicago, IL.

In his courses at Penn, he focuses on practical application and hands-on projects, often telling his students, “To succeed is to take responsibility for one’s own education.” He utilizes the diversity at Penn by considering how it can change the narrative of a play when characters are being portrayed by people of unique backgrounds. When traditional roles are cast by a person of a different race, gender, or religion, it allows the department to consider how it is relevant in today’s society.

As Andy has learned more about his individual students, he has enjoyed attending their extracurricular events and athletic contests. When he’s not showing his support to them he enjoys watching movies, playing board games, and reading comics.
