William Penn University Celebrates National Girls and Women in Sports Day Through Community Partnership and Free Youth Camp
02/05/2026
William Penn University is honoring National Girls and Women in Sports Day through both community engagement and campus programming, reinforcing its commitment to empowering female athletes and future leaders.
Earlier this month, William Penn University partnered with Oskaloosa Community School District and several regional organizations to support the inaugural Female Athlete Summit held at Musco Lighting. The summit brought together more than 100 high school female student-athletes from across the region for a day focused on leadership development, wellness, nutrition, recovery, and college recruiting.
William Penn played an active role in the summit by contributing collegiate athletics insight and leadership development support. University representatives participated in breakout sessions that helped student-athletes better understand the transition from high school to college sports and the opportunities available to them beyond graduation. The university’s involvement reflected a shared commitment to supporting young women at a critical stage in their athletic and personal development.
Building on that momentum, William Penn University will continue its celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day by hosting a free girls all-sports camp on Sunday, February 8, from 12:00 to 3:00 pm at the PAC Turf and Courts. Check-in will begin at 11:30 am.
The camp is designed to promote confidence, teamwork, and healthy competition while providing participants with hands-on instruction from William Penn coaches and student-athletes. Through skill-based activities and group engagement, attendees will experience how athletics can foster leadership, resilience, and self-confidence.
National Girls and Women in Sports Day is recognized annually to celebrate the achievements of female athletes and to encourage continued participation and leadership opportunities for girls in sports. William Penn University’s involvement in both the Female Athlete Summit and the on-campus camp highlights the university’s dedication to creating pathways for young women to grow through athletics, education, and community connection.
The camp is free to attend. Registration information is available online at: www.wmpenn.edu/event/all-sports-camp-for-the-national-girls-and-women-in-sports-day/
