William Penn University Athletic Bands Program to Host Campus Visit Day

10/10/2017

The William Penn University Athletic Bands program is hosting the 2017 WPU Band Visit Day on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on William Penn University’s Oskaloosa campus. High school marching band seniors are especially invited to this visit day, which will also include an afternoon at the football game against Benedictine College. The visit will include information about scholarship opportunities, a tour of campus, a free ticket into the football game to watch the incredible WPU half-time show, and the opportunity to perform with the band during the pre-game show. Lunch will be provided.

“We enjoy holding a visit day like this each year to get prospective students to come and experience a game day with our marching band,” says Terry DeJong, Director of Athletic Bands at William Penn University.  “This is a great opportunity for us from a recruiting standpoint, yet a great chance for our visitors to meet, visit, and perform with our current members. Guests also get to learn about our other programs and scholarships in the Athletic Bands and Fine Arts Departments.”

The William Penn University Athletic Bands are a great opportunity for music majors and non-music majors alike. With a variety of ensembles, William Penn University strives to give students a way to enhance their educational experience. Scholarships are available for participating students. If an Athletic Band scholarship is awarded, a student must participate in marching band and at least one other ensemble. These groups include Pep Band, Winter Percussion Line, and/or Color Guard.

Those interested in attending the visit day should contact the Office of Admissions via email at Admissions@wmpenn.edu or by calling 800-779-7366. The deadline for registration is Monday, October 23. For a detailed schedule of events, contact DeJong at DeJongT@wmpenn.edu.
