| Description of Duties and Responsibilities: |
| |
The Biology Laboratory Technician will facilitate teaching and research in the William Penn University science labs. The position supports university faculty by maintaining a sterile environment, caring for live animals, and preparing student experiments.
Weekly Tasks:
• Wash and dry glassware. Sort and store in the appropriate shelves either in the labs or in the prep room.
• Clean Labs – sweep, dust, mop, empty trash cans, clear lab benches.
• Turn off any microscopes or scales left on.
• Make sure that all gas jets are in the off position.
• Provide full carboys (water carriers) in every laboratory weekly. They should be labelled as to which lab they belong. Training required.
Animal Care:
• Feed and water the mice every other day, minimum.
• Change mouse litter at least once per week.
• Clean reptile cages as needed.
Special Tasks (as they occur):
• Prepare materials for upcoming laboratory experiments. Directions will be provided. |

Familiarity with Biology Lab procedures, equivalent to having passed BIOL 101. |
