Position Requirements and Preferences:

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree Required

Experience: Background in sport management, kinesiology, recreation, exercise science preferred

Expectations:

  • Independent decision making and ability to exercise good judgement
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member to complete assigned tasks and meeting deadlines
  • Organizational skills, time management, relationship building, and communication skills are essential
  • Willing to teach a class or fill in for professors that are absent
  • Willing to work the hours required by the division
  • Willing to grade assignments, clean labs/equipment in a timely manner as needed

Position Summary:

The Division of Kinesiology and Life Sciences at William Penn University invites applications for a Graduate Assistant position designed to support the academic and operational functions of the department. This role offers a dynamic opportunity for a motivated individual to gain professional experience in a higher education setting while pursuing graduate-level studies.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong independent decision-making skills and sound judgment in managing daily responsibilities. Excellent written and oral communication abilities are essential, as is the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. The position requires effective time management, organizational abilities, and relationship-building skills to support faculty, students, and departmental initiatives.

Primary responsibilities include assisting faculty with grading, maintaining clean and organized lab spaces and equipment, and helping to ensure smooth day-to-day operations within the division. The Graduate Assistant may be called upon to substitute for faculty members in the classroom and should be prepared to take on teaching responsibilities when necessary. Flexibility with scheduling and a willingness to work hours as determined by the needs of the division are expected.

This position provides valuable hands-on experience in the fields of kinesiology, exercise science, and life sciences education, offering a meaningful foundation for future academic or professional careers.

Reports to: Division Chair for Kinesiology and Life Sciences

Start Date: August 25, 2025

Scheduled Time: 9:00 am – 2:00pm Monday – Friday or as needed by full-time faculty

Replacement or New Position: Replacement

Full-Time/ Part-Time/Temp: Two Years or Length of Masters Program (Temporary)
