For more than three decades, John Ottosson has been a familiar face at William Penn University, serving in nearly every corner of campus and helping shape the institution we know today. Now, as he prepares to conclude his presidency, it’s our turn to celebrate the man who has given so much to Penn.
John’s journey began long before he became President. Originally coming to William Penn from Sweden as a student-athlete, he returned professionally in 1990 to work in development and alumni relations. What followed was a career built on a willingness to step in wherever Penn needed him. From fundraising and admissions to athletics and student services, John’s leadership has touched nearly every part of the University.
In 2013, he stepped into the presidency during one of Penn’s most challenging financial periods. Under his leadership, the University has reduced significant debt, invested in campus improvements, strengthened partnerships, and expanded opportunities for students. Through it all, John has remained committed to the people who make Penn what it is.
On Saturday, April 3, 2027, join us for an evening celebrating President John Ottosson and his wife, Diane, as part of the President Ottosson Farewell Tour.
The Roast & Toast will bring together alumni, friends, faculty, staff, and supporters for an evening of laughter, memories, and heartfelt tributes. Expect a few good-natured jokes, plenty of stories, and an opportunity to recognize John’s remarkable career and the lasting impact he and Diane have made on the Penn community.
Best of all, proceeds from the evening will support student scholarships, continuing John’s legacy of putting William Penn students first.
