Beane Lecture

March 3 @ 11:15 am - 12:00 pm

William Penn University welcomes Dr. Cherice Bock as this year’s Beane Lecturer for her talk, “Walk Cheerfully Over the World”: Living Justly Amidst Climate Change. As the past 11 years have been the warmest on record, communities worldwide are experiencing more frequent and severe climate impacts that disproportionately affect the most vulnerable. Drawing on George Fox’s call to “walk cheerfully over the world,” Dr. Bock will examine how faith traditions, including the Quaker movement, both inspire care for creation and reflect complicity in systems that exploit people and the land. This lecture invites reflection on the Spirit-led and justice-based roles individuals and communities can play in responding to climate change and working toward a just and sustainable future.
