Provides a safe, welcoming, and motivating fitness environment by assisting members with equipment use, promoting healthy lifestyles, and maintaining the Wellness Center. |

| Description of Duties and Responsibilities: |
|
Monitors the strength and cardiovascular areas to promote safe and appropriate use of YMCA fitness equipment. Welcomes members, builds positive relationships, and serves as an enthusiastic role model for healthy living. Assists members with basic equipment use and exercise techniques and helps conduct fitness orientations and follow-up sessions based on individual goals. Monitors participation and follows up with members to encourage continued engagement and use of YMCA wellness resources. Visually inspects equipment and wellness areas and reports maintenance or safety concerns to appropriate staff. Maintains clean, organized, and safe fitness areas throughout each shift, including returning weights and equipment to their proper locations. Monitors youth use of fitness equipment to ensure appropriate and responsible participation. Assists with wellness classes, substitute shifts, and other department activities as needed. Responds appropriately to emergencies and follows YMCA safety and emergency procedures. Attends required trainings and promotes YMCA programs, services, and healthy living opportunities. |
| Required Qualifications: |
|
Minimum age of 16. Basic knowledge of exercise science, fitness equipment, and biomechanics required; previous strength and conditioning or fitness experience preferred. Basic computer skills required. Must obtain and maintain required YMCA training and certifications, including CPR, First Aid, Wellness Center training, and Risk Management training. Additional wellness, health coaching, or strength training certification preferred. Must be able to demonstrate exercises, remain active on the fitness floor, and safely lift and transport equipment or weights up to 45 pounds. |

Flexible scheduling available, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends based on Wellness Center operating hours and staffing needs. Schedule will be coordinated around student class schedules when possible. |
