Purpose of Job
Provides friendly, welcoming, and professional customer service while assisting members and guests with check-in, questions, telephone calls, and YMCA programs and services.
Description of Duties and Responsibilities:
Welcomes and greets YMCA members and guests with a positive and professional attitude. Assists members with facility check-in, membership cards, and basic questions regarding YMCA programs, schedules, and services. Answers incoming telephone calls and directs members and guests to the appropriate staff or resources. Monitors the Hospitality Desk and surrounding area to help maintain a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming environment. Assists with lost and found items and responds appropriately to medical or other emergencies according to YMCA procedures. Completes required documentation and follows established safety, security, and member service procedures. Assists with opening duties when scheduled, including preparing the desk, computer, and facility for daily operations. Builds positive relationships with members and promotes YMCA programs, benefits, volunteer opportunities, and community involvement. Attends required meetings and trainings and assists with other projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum age of 16 and high school diploma or equivalent. Customer service experience preferred. Basic computer and data-entry skills required. Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills and be comfortable answering telephone calls and assisting members and guests. Must be able to obtain and maintain required YMCA certifications and training, including First Aid and Oxygen Administration; CPR/AED certification required for designated opening/closing staff. Must successfully complete required YMCA training, including Safety & Risk Management, Child Abuse Prevention, and New Employee Orientation.
Work Schedule–Days & Times
Flexible scheduling available, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Opening shifts may begin as early as 5:00–5:30 AM, and latest closing shifts end at 9 PM Monday through Friday. Weekend hours: Saturdays 8 AM – 3 PM and Sundays 1 PM – 5 PM, schedules depending on facility needs. Schedule will be coordinated around student class schedules when possible.
