Gabi Evans ’24

Hometown: West Liberty, Iowa
Major(s): Psychology and Sociology

While busy with her academic studies and being an athlete at William Penn University, Gabi Evans ’24 added one more project to her plate: a book drive to support the local YMCA.

Gabi is a Psychology and Sociology major, as well as a member of the William Penn University Bowling Team. She also finds time to work in the child care room at the Mahaska County YMCA. When her Quaker Values class asked students to participate in a service project, Gabi immediately thought of the children she works with at the YMCA.

“I decided to put together a book drive. I will be collecting children’s books for children ages infant to fifth grade,” says Gabi. “All books will be brought directly to the YMCA for the kids to enjoy!”

The Mahaska County YMCA will be moving to a new location in October, the books collected will help to expand the library available to the children served in their new space.

William Penn University is proud of Gabi’s work in sharing books with the children of our local community. If you wish to participate in this book drive, donations can be dropped off at Statesmen Lanes Bowling Alley and Event Center (1700 A Avenue E).
