Position Title: Softball Graduate Assistant (2 openings)

Department: Athletics

Position Requirements and Preferences:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Experience:
    • Background in softball
  • Abilities: 
    • Bachelor’s Degree required
    • Acceptance into the MBL or SMGT graduate program at WPU
    • Good written and oral communication skills
    • Background in softball, previous collegiate experience preferred
    • Ability to work independently and as a team member to complete assigned tasks and meet deadlines
    • Organizational skills, time management, relationship building and communication skills
    • Willing to work long longs

Position Summary:

Responsibilities: 

  • Administer your sport in total compliance with William Penn, NAIA and HEART regulations and guidelines;
  • Monitor and stay within designated budget. All purchases need to be approved by the head coach;
  • Assist with recruiting and retaining student-athletes;
  • Positive role model for student-athletes and monitor disciplinary procedures within the program;
  • Oversee Junior Varsity program;
  • Attend Department meetings;
  • Encourage/monitor attendance and academic performance, oversee weekly study hall;
  • Organize community service volunteering as established by the program for the NAIA Champions of Character initiative;
  • Manage and communicate team fundraising;
  • Conduct yourself in a professional manner and display good sportsmanship at all times;
  • Apparel distribution and game-day uniform distribution;
  • Cooperate and communicate with training and strength staff;
  • Assist with annual inventory;
  • Be loyal and supportive to all Faculty, Staff and Administration
  • All other duties assigned by Head coach

Reports to: Head Softball Coach

Start Date: August 1, 2023

Replacement or New Position: Replacement

Full-Time/Part-time/Temp: Graduate Assistant (minimum of 2 years
