Position Title: Full-Time Software Engineering / Computer Science Faculty

Department: Applied Computer Science

Position Requirements and Preferences: 

We seek for an innovative and effective professor who can lead our software engineering major and help grow our Applied Computer Science programs. Non-traditional backgrounds are welcome, such as experience with user interface design, game design, computer graphics, or esports. Industry experience in large-scale software development is a plus. Must enjoy developing and mentoring undergraduate students in a small college environment and have proven success teaching under-prepared students who struggle in computer courses.

Relevant teaching experience includes courses such as business applications, systems analysis and design, testing, and software engineering projects. Preferred candidate has a master’s degree in software engineering / computer science or related computing field or master’s degree in another area with 18 graduate credits in software engineering / computer science or related field or relevant experience.

Position Summary: 

The William Penn University Applied Technology Division invites applications for a full-time faculty member beginning Fall 2024 to teach classes including programming, software engineering, and general technology education. Rank and tenure dependent upon qualifications. William Penn University is a teaching institution – the candidate must be an innovative instructor who uses research-based pedagogical strategies. Candidates must be forward-thinking, student-centered, and work collaboratively and collegially. Expectations include effective advising, effective use of technology, student-learning assessment, service, and professional development. This is a full-time teaching position; no time off for research.
