Position Requirements and Preferences: 

  • We are looking for an innovative and effective professor who can lead our engineering department and help grow our 3 + 2 engineering programs with Iowa State University (civil, industrial, mechanical).
  • Must enjoy developing and mentoring undergraduate students in a small college environment
  • Must have proven success teaching under-prepared students who may struggle in problem-solving courses.
  • Preferred candidate has at least a master’s degree in engineering and relevant professional experience.

Position Summary:
The William Penn University Applied Technology Division invites applications for a full-time faculty member beginning Fall 2024 to teach engineering and physics courses. Rank and tenure dependent upon qualifications. Will teach one section of college physics (calculus-based) per semester, including labs, beginning Fall 2024 in Oskaloosa, Iowa, and also other Applied Technology Division courses such as Intro to Engineering, Statics, Dynamics, Mechanics of Materials, Thermodynamics, or individual’s specialty area. Teaching and advising 3+2 engineering students are primary responsibilities. Additional duties could include advising the engineering club, guiding students in undergraduate research, recruiting 3+2 engineering students, and maintaining the 3+2 engineering articulation agreement between Iowa State and William Penn University. William Penn University is a teaching institution – the candidate must be an innovative instructor who uses research-based pedagogical strategies. Candidates must be forward-thinking, student-centered, and work collaboratively and collegially. Expectations include effective advising, effective use of technology, student-learning assessment, service, and professional development. This is a full-time teaching position and does not offer time off for research but may involve supervising undergraduate research as part of Professional Development Seminar.
