JOB TITLE: Web Developer

JOB SUMMARY: William Penn University (WPU) is dedicated to cultivating a dynamic learning environment for its community members. The Web Developer plays a pivotal role in fostering this community by demonstrating leadership, utilizing diverse technologies, and embodying the Quaker virtues of simplicity, peace-making, integrity, community, and equality. Specifically, the Web Developer will offer comprehensive website support and application integration services to the university’s business, academic, and administrative units.

DEPARTMENT: Information Services

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Associate degree required; Bachelor degree preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 2+ years in application or web development/integration.

Technical Proficiencies:

    • Proficient in languages C#, HTML, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, CSS, etc.
    • Proficient in frameworks ASP.NET and Bootstrap.
    • Skilled in using tools like Visual Studio, Visual Code, Microsoft SQL Server, etc.
    • Familiarity with Content Management Systems (CMS) including WordPress.
    • Basic SQL and Python skills required.

Abilities and Skills:

    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, building positive relationships across diverse professional backgrounds.
    • Strong analytical problem-solving skills with acute attention to detail.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively, anticipate issues, and meet deadlines while adjusting to shifting priorities.
    • Willingness to stay updated with emerging technologies and advocate for their appropriate use.
    • Experience with classroom and instructional hardware and software, particularly in a higher education environment.
    • Proficient in business English, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information discreetly.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team to meet goals and deadlines.
    • Excellent customer service skills both in-person and via phone.

 

REPORTS TO: Directors of Information Technology Services

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Collaborate with user departments to analyze needs, integrate software solutions, and configure applications to meet system requirements.
  2. Evaluate business information processing needs and propose suitable solutions.
  3. Participate in projects to develop or integrate IT solutions aligned with stakeholder requirements.
  4. Develop scripts and programming for system integration purposes.
  5. Conduct thorough testing, including user testing, to ensure seamless system implementation.
  6. Collaborate with Analysts, ITS Specialists, and external vendors supporting application development and integration.
  7. Utilize and enforce standardized procedures and documentation to ensure the long-term operational efficiency of university systems.
  8. Provide training to user department personnel for effective utilization of university systems.
  9. Embrace and promote a culture of Leadership and Technology aligned with Quaker principles.
  10. Represent the university positively among students, staff, prospective students, and the community.
  11. Demonstrate enthusiasm, self-motivation, and a positive attitude in interactions with students, personnel, and the community.
  12. Interpret and implement departmental and/or college policies and procedures.
  13. Foster a harmonious work environment.
  14. Contribute to student learning through job performance.
  15. Occasional travel may be required for this position.
  16. Occasional weekend and evening work may be necessary.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned.
