  • Office management/coordination abilities.

  • Ability to work in an environment of shifting priorities, frequent, interruptions, hectic pace, high level of interaction with students, staff and/or the public.
  • Working knowledge of computer software programs which may include Word, Excel, OCLC utilities, library ILS or similar programs.
  • Knowledge of online database and searching techniques.
  • Excellent written communication skills including proficiency in business English, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Ability to handle highly confidential matters and materials with discretion.
  • Ability to work independently as well as be a collaborative team player in completing assigned tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent customer service skills including phone and in-person reception etiquette.
  • Proficiency with office machines including printer, scanner and copy machine.

 

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Librarian and Archivist; this position is responsible for supervising all circulation and public service activities during the evening hours of library operation. The position also assists the Librarian with special projects. This position works 24 hours a week, Sunday 2pm-10pm, Mondays-Thursdays 6pm-10pm.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assists faculty, students, staff and community in making effective use of the Library’s electronic and hard copy resources while staffing the circulation/service desk.
  2. Trains and supervises work study students in various tasks and assignments.
  3. Responsible for cleaning and re-shelving all materials.
  4. Empty recycling bins throughout the library.
  5. Close the library securely.
  6. Provides assistance in cataloging and archival projects.
  7. Provide an education with a Leadership and Technology focus, and enliven that provision through adherence to the Quaker principles of simplicity, peace-making, integrity, community, and equality.
  8. Represents the College in a positive manner with prospective, current, and former students, employees, and the community.
  9. Demonstrates enthusiasm, self-motivation, and a positive attitude in meeting and dealing effectively and courteously with students, other personnel, and all members of the community.
  10. Interprets departmental and/or college policies and procedures.
  11. Works harmoniously with others.
