Part-Time or Graduate Assistant Campus Safety Officer

Position Title:
Campus Safety Officer

Department: Student Services

Position Requirements and Preferences:

A. Education Minimum High School Diploma or GED required.

Associates degree in Law Enforcement or related field preferred. Valid Iowa Driver’s License required.

 

B. Experience Background in supervision of students or law enforcement preferred.  Prior Campus Safety Officer experience preferred.

 

 

Position Summary:

Responsibilities:

  1. Patrols campus to assure all University buildings and facilities are secure.
  2. Enforce University rules, policies and procedures.
  3. Monitors security cameras and records evidence of situations that arise.
  4. Prepares and maintains a shift log of activities, calls for service, completes Campus Incident Reports and enters into CAMS.
  5. Locks and unlocks campus facilities as needed.
  6. Enforces parking rules and regulations.
  7. Liaison with local law enforcement as needed.
  8. Maintains communication with cell phone or radio as needed.
  9. Identifies and reports malfunctions of campus facilities or equipment.
  10. Assists with quick fix repairs to avoid personal injury or property damage.
  11. Identifies hazards that pose a threat to students or employees.
  12. Communicates with Director of Campus Safety and appropriate Cabinet member as needed.
  13. Monitor traffic flow and violations on the campus. Assist and enforce as needed.
  14. Conducts necessary facility or room inspections as per policy guidelines.
  15. Document incidents on campus through procedure established by the Director of Campus Safety.
  16. All other duties as assigned by the Director of Campus Safety.
  17. MUST have a valid Iowa Driver’s license.
  18. Become certified in First Aid, CPR & AED.
