Religious Leadership Award

As a student are you...  active in the life of your church? interested in developing your leadership skills? seeking to grow in your spiritual life?

If this describes you, then you may wish to apply for the William Penn Religious Leadership Award!

What is the RLA Award?

The purpose of the Religious Leadership Award is to involve William Penn students in primarily on-campus ministry. Developing individuals as student leaders, achieving personal spiritual growth and assisting others in their spiritual search are the goals of the award. The value of the RLA award is up to $1500 per semester depending upon financial need.

In general, recipients of the RLA award are expected to:

be consistent in their involvement of either their home church or a church in the Oskaloosa area while attending school
be involved in a campus spiritual life activity on a consistent basis
be willing to be held accountable for ministry efforts by submitting a brief monthly report to the Campus Ministries office, and
Each student receiving the RLA award is reviewed near the end of each semester. Failure to meet these requirements may lead to a reduction or revocation of the award for the next semester.

Potential Leadership Opportunities...

Chapel... Responsibilities: to assist the Campus Minister schedule speakers and other resource persons to lead worship on Thursday mornings. Expectations: to meet with Campus Minister as needed to plan for weekday worship and to attend worship consistently.

Bible Study Leader... Responsibilities: to organize and lead or co-lead a small group of students who share in discovering and applying Biblical truths to their individual lives. Expectations: to take part in training sessions; to be involved in the small group Bible study on a weekly basis, be supportive of other Christian groups on campus.

Sharing Team... Responsibilities: to share with groups on and off campus using one's verbal, musical, and/or dramatic talents in the context of church services, youth meetings, etc. Expectations: to prepare for and participate in one sharing opportunity per semester.

Special Local Projects... Leader Responsibilities: to plan and promote projects, special activities, and service projects which have as a major goal the involvment of William Penn students. Expectations: to plan, promote, and participate in one project(s) per semester.

Technology in Meetings...

Service trips… Assist in administrating fall and spring break service trips.
