United World Club celebrating International Education Week

The United World Club of William Penn University is sponsoring events for International Education Week. Festivities begin on William Penn’s campus Monday, November 17, and continue through Thursday, November 20. All events are open to the public and admission is free unless otherwise noted.
International Education Week developed through a joint effort between the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Education to promote education of cultures and international exchange. The government’s Web site for International Education Week,
http://iew.state.gov, states that this event is an opportunity to “prepare Americans for a global environment.” The U.S. government also hopes the event will “attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn and exchange experiences in the U.S.”
Events taking place on William Penn’s campus during International Education Week include Exploring the World Cultures on Monday, November 17, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Chief Mahaska Room of Dana M. Atkins Memorial Union. This will be an opportunity to learn about traditions and cultural values among William Penn students.
On Wednesday, November 19, the United World Club will host a luncheon, Intercontinental Delights, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Chief Mahaska Room of the Union. The meal will offer delicacies from across the world. Tickets for the lunch are $5.00 for William Penn students and $12.00 for adults. To purchase a ticket, contact Omaira Gibens, advisor to United World Club, at (641) 673-2175.
Also taking place on Wednesday, November 19, will be a multi-cultural movie night in the Chief Mahaska Room of the Union with free popcorn served. Events for International Education Week conclude on Thursday, November 20, with a chapel service, Prayer Internatioñalé, also taking place in the Chief Mahaska Room of the Union.
For further information on International Education Week festivities at William Penn please contact Omaira Gibens at (641) 673-2175.
