Saturday, August 30 has been designated FILL THE STADIUM night as the William Penn Statesmen come face to face with the Waldorf Warriors at Community Stadium. The first game of the season will kick off at 7 p.m.
Free tickets are being distributed to students through the local schools. Children under 12 need to be accompanied by an adult, and adult admission is being discounted to only $3. Middle school and high school students can either present their ticket or just show their school I.D. for free admission.
Everyone attending can enter a free drawing for prizes that include a William Penn blanket, sweatshirt and other favorite items from the Penn bookstore. The first 100 guests to go through the west gate to the stadium will receive a free bottled water or soda from the concession stand.
Cheerleaders will be tossing t-shirts into the stands with each touchdown by the Statesmen, and the William Penn dance team will provide some half-time entertainment. Even Mother Nature is excited about this game, as she is planning a perfect fall day for the event.
The Statesmen enjoy playing under the lights, and this game should get them off to a good start in the fall competition. Last season was somewhat disappointing for the team, having finished at 5-6 overall, but a change in Penn’s offensive schemes has the Statesmen feeling optimistic about the upcoming season and fans anticipating some exciting games.
With Penn’s next two games on the road and one weekend being game-free, the next chance to see the Statesmen in Community Stadium will be nearly a month away. So gather your friends and family and come on out to FILL THE STADIUM night this Saturday, August 30, at 7 p.m.
