Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees 1998-2005

    
NICKI BALDWIN   Inducted 1998

YEARS: 1987-1991 Conference MVP in 1991. Twice first team all-conference. First team all-district. Scored 1,276 career points. Among leaders in all offensive and defensive statistics

PETE KENDALL   Inducted 1998

YEARS: 1961-1964 Was Iowa Conference tennis singles champion. Three times won Iowa Conference doubles championship. Lettered four times.

DAVID TUCKER   Inducted 1998

YEARS: 1986-1990 Four time basketball letterman. Led Iowa Conference in scoring junior year. Scored 1,004 career points. All-conference twice.

GERALD REECE   Inducted 1998

YEARS: 1979-1981 Conference MVP 1981. Twice all-conference. First team all-district. Led conference in scoring twice. Scored 49 points against Beloit in NCAA playoffs. Scored 1,275 career points.

TEDD GOLDMAN   Inducted 1998

YEARS: 1985-1987 All-conference infielder. Twice All-Regional. Played on back-to-back conference championships teams and twice went to NCAA playoffs. Stole 21 consecutive bases. Had career batting average of .385.

RALPH LONGUS   Inducted 1999

YEARS: 1975-1979 Record setting cross country and track distance runner. Set records in mile, two mile, three mile, 1500 meters and 5000 meters. Ran leg of record setting medley relay team in 1978.

RAE WHITE   Inducted 1999

YEARS: 1980-83 All-American. Played on national championship basketball team of 1981. Scored 1,312 career points. Held records for season scoring, free throws and field goals.

GREG LANG   Inducted 1999

YEARS: 1969-1973 Among career leaders in rushing, passing and receiving. Set school record for punting yardage at 39.9 yards. Played on 1971 Iowa Conference and Boot Hill Bowl championship teams. Set school pole vault record. Four time letterman in football and track.

BILL HOLMAN   Inducted 1999

YEARS: 1990-1992 Led nation in slugging percentage in 1992. Twice all-conference and all-regional. Power hitter he set school records for home runs, RBIs and average and conference re cords for home runs and RBIs.

ANDY PICKERING   Inducted 1999

YEARS: 1988-1992 Four year football letterman. First team all-conference. Set school records for passes attempted, completed in a game, season and career and for completions in game, season and career. Had 4,364 yards passing.

JEFF LINDSAY   Inducted 2000

YEARS: 1988-1992 Pitched on three Iowa Conference championship teams, went to four straight NCAA Regionals, lettered four times, named first team all-conference twice and was conference MVP in 1992. Among leaders in pitching and batting statistics

BOB JOYE   Inducted 2000

YEARS: 1959-1962 Break away halfback on power running teams. Gained 141 yards versus Upper Iowa in 1960. Linebacker coached at Tennessee Tech and is in the university’s Hall of Fame. Winning Iowa High School coach at Pekin, Albia, Ida Grove and Ankeny.

BRIAN SARVER   Inducted 2000

YEARS: 1989-1993 Versatile offensive football threat was first team all-conference in 1992. Set records for punt returns, pass receptions, passing yards received and is among leaders in passing, rushing and punting. Scored 118 career points.

LESLIE SPENCER   Inducted 2000

YEARS: 1981-1983 First team All-American in basketball. Conference MVP in 1982-83. Played on Penn’s first conference title team and played in national tournament. Listed in top ten nationally in free throws and among school career leaders in six categories.

BILL WATSON   Inducted 2000

YEARS: 1964-1968 Floor general, deadly shooter, and smooth passer he scored 992 career points and racked up records for assists and free throws. All-conference as member of Penn’s first regional tournament team.

SUE SPIELBAUER   Inducted  2001

YEARS: 1994-1998 Led NCAA in three point field goal percentage. First team all-conference as junior and senior in basketball and All-American and twice all-conference in softball. Set records in pitching both season and career.

JACK KENSLER   Inducted 2001

YEARS:  1957-1961 Fierce offensive blocker at guard position he played on the 7-2 1958 team which compiled the first winning season in 28 years.  Four tine letterman.

LARRY NILES   Inducted 2001

YEARS: 1967-1969 First ‘big man’ to play guard, he could shoot from out and play under the basket and at 6-foot-7 was strong rebounder. All-conference his senior year he played on Penn’s first team to win 20-games and play in NAIA Regionals.

PATTY SPIELBAUER  Inducted 2001

YEARS: 1982-1986 Twice first team all-conference. Set softball records for season and career wins, strikeouts and  ERA plus season innings pitched and season and career shutouts.

ALEX BRANDTNER  Inducted 2002

YEARS: 1973-1977 Four year letterman in both basketball and tennis. Conference tennis MVP in 1977 and singles tennis champ. Recognized as floor general and for his defensive abilities in basketball.

JOHN JENKINS   Inducted 2002

YEARS: 1972-1976 First team NAIA All-American in 1975 as defensive lineman.. First team all-conference and all-region. Played on conference unbeaten champions, first NAIA playoff team, Bowl Hill Bowl champions and the Poultry Bowl.

TRACI PILCHER   Inducted 2002

YEARS: 1991-1995 Three time softball letter winner. Set records as pitcher for ERA, wins, strikeouts. Threw no-hitter and had career ERA of 2.35.

LINN CRAWN   Inducted 2002

YEARS: 1970-1974 All-American in wrestling and all-district and all-conference in football. Lettered four times in each sport. Defensive tackle he played on conference championship team, in the Boot Hill Bowl and Poultry Bowl. Was NAIA national heavyweight champion in wrestling.

RICK DUNNUM   Inducted 2002

YEARS: 1986-1988 First team all-conference pitcher he played on back-to-back conference champions and NAIA Regional qualifying teams. Won 23 games in two seasons. Played professionally in Philadelphia Phillies system.

DAVE MCLAUGHLIN  Inducted 2003

YEARS: 1986-1988 Twice was All-American wrestler. He  placed in national meet as a sophomore and junior finishing second in 1988. Had 64-12 record.

JILL BURSON   Inducted 2003

YEARS: 1988-1992 Kodak All-American basketball selection in 1991-92. Twice all-conference she scored career total 1028 points. Solid outside shooter, she was a strong rebounder and had solid game under the basket.

JANA SMITH   Inducted 2003

YEARS: 1988-1992 All-conference four consecutive years as softball first baseman and  All Regional her senior year. All-conference in volleyball and lettered four times.

DARYL KOSUT   Inducted 2003

YEARS: 1983-1987 Led nation in total offense as a junior; was twice all-conference first team and conference football MVP in 1985 and 1986. Lettered in baseball three times.

BONNIE FOSTER   Inducted 2004

YEARS: 1974-1978  Only Penn women’s basketball player to end her career with over 1,000 points (1,472) and 1,000 rebounds (1,166). Lettered four years and led team in rebounding all four seasons. Played on four collegiate state championship teams.

JIM ANDERSON Inducted 2004

YEARS: 1964-1968 Four time football and baseball letterman. Set school defensive football records for interceptions. Led team in tackles four years. Had a career 2.63 ERA as pitcher.

DON SWIM Inducted 2004

YEARS: 1960-1964 Won Iowa conference doubles championship in tennis three consecutive years (1962, 1963, 1964) and was second in singles twice. Also a standout pitcher in baseball.

CARL JOHNSON Inducted 2004

YEARS: 1972-1975 Four time letterman was twice first team all-conference as a running back on co-Iowa conference champions and Poultry Bowl team. Had back-to-back 1,000 plus seasons rushing. Had 174 career points and 2,824 career rushing yards.

DON CAMENISCH Inducted 2005

YEARS: 1956-1960 Led football team in tackles from his linebacker position four straight seasons. Named by Des Moines Register to small college all-state team in 1959. Captain of 1959 team.

RENEE RAUB Inducted 2005

YEARS: 1974-1979 All-American basketball player scored 1,467 career points with 990 career rebounds on teams that compiled a record of 118-21 against many of the nation’s Division I schools.

LEON RICHARDSON Inducted 2005

YEARS: 1966-2002 Head basketball coach 28 years he holds school record for most games (696) and most wins (319). Shared IIAC title in 1974-75 and advanced to regionals. Won school’s first outright basketball title in 1980-81, advanced to regionals and won conference title again in 1982-83. Also coach baseball and tennis.

SARAH SEREDA Inducted 2005

YEARS:  1992-1996 First team all-region and all-conference twice she was a four time letter winner. Ended softball catching career with .483 batting average and holder of school records in home runs, hits triples, doubles and runs.
