Internships
As a student in Social and Behavioral Sciences, you can to choose from many exciting internships and work experiences in government, human services, or non-profit organizations. You might take advantage of the Washington Center Internship where you would be placed with a federal agency in Washington, D.C. You might want to be a part of the Iowa Legislative Internship, working under a legislator and gaining practical experience in how our government works. You might choose to be involved in a community history project or work as an interpreter at a "living history" farm. You might decide to get involved in a domestic crisis intervention agency, Main Street, YM/YWCA or the United Way. The choice . . . and the experience . . . are yours!
What career opportunities are available?
Our graduates are found in all walks of life: teaching and administration, government service, public administration, business, communications and public relations, journalism, social work, ministry, library science, counseling, occupational therapy, law enforcement, corrections, probation and parole, historic preservation . . . everywhere a liberal-arts education is required to make sense of our world. Our programs of study also prepare you for graduate school.
