Adjunct Faculty, College for Working Adults
William Penn University College for Working Adults (CWA) invites interested professionals to join our growing team of faculty. We have a continuing need for individuals who can facilitate high performing adult cohorts on the Oskaloosa, Eddyville, West Des Moines, Ankeny, and Ames campuses.
The CWA Associate of Arts in Leadership Studies (AALS) program and the Bachelor of Arts in Business (BAB) program have a need for professional faculty in the disciplines of English, American literature, environmental science, wellness and fitness, mathematics, and statistics, and the fields of study including accounting, financial management, and economics.
To be qualified to become a faculty member in the WPU College for Working Adults, the candidate must possess a graduate degree in the discipline or field of study. A master’s degree is required and a doctoral (terminal) degree is highly preferred. Professional experience related to the discipline or field of study to be taught will also be necessary. (For example, work experience in business, as well as teaching assistantships are considered).
Qualifications for a faculty appointment to teach in the Master of Business Leadership (MBL) program require a doctoral (terminal) degree or an applicable master’s degree plus professional certification (CPA, Six Sigma, CIA, PMI, APICS, etc.) and/or significant leadership coursework and experience related to the discipline or field of study to be taught.

Lead Teaching Assistant for the Associate of Arts Degree Program
The William Penn University Project Office is seeking a professional with both teaching and administrative experience to help coordinate and lead the AA in Leadership Studies education program.
The successful candidate will possess:
· A B.A. degree in education, or a related field, and experience as a teacher
· Experience with adult and/or at-risk students
· Strong writing skills
· Supervisory and/or administrative experience and skills
· Experience working on a team
· Ability to work independently
The Lead TA is not required to work from the William Penn University campus or to relocate to Oskaloosa. As the AA in Leadership Studies is a distance program, most of the program staff works from home.
A master’s degree and/or some Spanish ability would be helpful, though neither is required.

Director of Faculty & Curriculum, College for Working Adults
The College for Working Adults (CWA) is seeking strong leadership to fully support new systems and operations that will anticipate and address exponential growth during the next three years. This leader will play a key role in helping CWA build its reputation of quality, excellence and innovation. He or she is expected to take the Division of Faculty & Curriculum to even higher levels of academic success during a period of dynamic growth and change.
Duties and Responsibilities
Faculty
- In consultation with the Dean, articulate a vision for the Faculty & Curriculum Division that is forward-looking and captures the anticipated dramatic changes that are likely to define 21st century higher education.
- Help establish an environment that is conducive for faculty to deliver quality learner-centered instruction, both on-line and face-to-face.
- Create a faculty development series to address immediate faculty needs while setting a foundation for 21st century applications and benchmark practices in the classroom. (Example: CWA learning teams are about to function in a different manner with new objectives & outcomes. In order to accommodate these expectations, new paradigms must be created & faculty support must be provided so that the program can achieve the appropriate level of performance standards from all constituents.)
- Develop rubrics & a gradual growth of standards among faculty to raise performance expectations and outcomes in the classroom
- Develop on-line faculty support and procedures in preparation for the anticipated addition of new on-line curriculum delivery in Spring 2010.
- Oversee all aspects of the new curriculum reform presently scheduled for January 2010.
- In consultation with the Dean, oversee faculty selection, orientation, evaluation, and dismissal.
- Build a faculty infrastructure that accommodates dedicated full-time faculty growth for CWA.
Curriculum
- Determine consistent templates for all course modules. Ensure that the process is supported and streamlined to employ new products as quickly and efficiently as possible.
- Develop a cadre of module writers & evaluators dedicated to consistency and transparent documents that enable both students and faculty to follow the course design and outcomes.
- Regularly monitor the course modules to determine that they are functioning and performing according to expectations.
- Serve as a coordinator among CWA partners to ensure that all curriculum-related products are created as cost-effectively as possible.
- Create an environment among faculty members so that they feel empowered in the classroom & invested in CWA.
Faculty Advisory Committee (FAC)
- Facilitate meetings and agendas for the FAC.
- Help determine membership roles & expectations to ensure that the FAC replicates typical governance operations in schools that rely more heavily on full-time faculty.
Technology
- Provide leadership for the Division in the advanced use of technology – both in the classroom and to support internal staff needs.
- Monitor cutting-edge applications of technology in the classroom and make recommendations to the Dean when necessary.
Staff
- Build a strong team to support faculty and curriculum
- Plan, organize and direct the Division to create lean systems and infrastructures that will utilize and promote flexibility and a “smart” working environment.
Candidate should minimally possess a master’s degree and have experience working directly with faculty and curriculum. Some college administration experience preferred, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
